Homemade Clam Chowder
Indulge in the rich flavors of this homemade clam chowder, a comforting and hearty soup perfect for any occasion. The combination of tender clams, smoky bacon, and creamy broth will leave you craving more.
Ingredients:
- 2 cans minced clams, drained
- 1 cup clam juice
- 4 slices bacon, chopped
- 1 onion, finely diced
- 2 celery stalks, diced
- 3 medium potatoes, diced
- 3 cups milk
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 bay leaf
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions:
In a large pot, cook chopped bacon until crispy
Remove and set aside
In the same pot, saut onions and celery in bacon fat until softened
Add diced potatoes and clam juice, then simmer until potatoes are tender
In a separate saucepan, melt butter, whisk in flour, and cook for 2 minutes to make a roux
Gradually whisk in milk and cream until smooth
Add the mixture to the pot with potatoes
Stir in drained clams, bay leaf, salt, and pepper
Simmer until heated through
Discard bay leaf, ladle chowder into bowls, and garnish with crispy bacon and fresh parsley
